We warmly welcome you to the Faculty of Dental Sciences at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Our faculty is the second Faculty of Dental Sciences in Sri Lanka. It was established in December 2021 as the ninth faculty of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura which is the largest University in the country in terms of student numbers.
We provide a Dental education programme of the highest standard.
Our Bachelor’s degree program is spaned for five years. The degree program is conducted in 3 phases. The first phase (Preclinical/ Basic Sciences phase) is mainly conducted together with the Faculty of Medical Sciences. Para clinical subjects are taught in the second phase. 3rd phase is solely focused on teaching clinical dentistry and patient management.
The Dental faculty at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura is fully geared in delivering the knowledge, skills and advanced technology to students. We have the state of the art facilities in teaching and skills development.
Students undergo clinical training at the Dental Professorial unit at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Navy General hospital and other tertiary care hospitals in Colombo.
The ultimate goal of FDS at the Jayewardenepura university is to produce highly calibered dental graduates with dedication, compassion and empathy.
Sri Jayewardenepura University is located in a scenic location in Colombo district equipped with
extensive facilities for student welfare and extracurricular activities. Students do engage in a full range of sports and social activities. Further they participate in many professional and social forums in the country with due recognition and rewarding.
