The Faculty of Dental Sciences welcomed its 4th batch of undergraduates on January 6th at the Board Room of the Faculty of Medical Sciences. This significant occasion was graced by Senior Professor Pathmalal M. Manage, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, who welcomed the new batch, emphasizing the importance of tradition, discipline, and the university’s proud history. Senior Professor Surangi G. Yasawardene, Dean of the Faculty of Dental Sciences, addressed the students and their parents, highlighting the dental curriculum and the facilities offered by the faculty. Professor Priyake Palipana, Head of the Department of Restorative Dentistry, delivered an engaging introduction to the field of dentistry, inspiring the audience. Dr. Dinithi Ekanayake, Deputy Coordinator of the Orientation Programme, warmly welcomed the new entrants in her speech. The event was attended by academic staff, Mr. A.B. Weliwita (Registrar, University of Sri Jayewardenepura), Mrs. Nishanthi Palangasinghe (Acting Deputy Registrar, Faculty of Dental Sciences), and Mrs. Dilrukshi Peiris (Acting Senior Assistant Bursar, Faculty of Dental Sciences).The ceremony celebrated the start of a transformative journey for the incoming batch, paving the way for their success in dentistry.
