International Dental Elective Programme
Experience Dental Education and Clinical Practice in Sri Lanka
The Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura offers elective opportunities for undergraduate dental students from overseas universities. The programme provides international students with an opportunity to gain exposure to dental education, clinical practice, community oral health and contemporary dental practice in Sri Lanka, while interacting with local students and academic staff.

Applications can be submitted at any time of the year.
- Duration 1 to 8 weeks per academic year (as chosen by the student)
- Minimum duration in one department – 1-2 weeks
- Maximum duration for entire elective – 8 weeks
- One student is only allowed 3 elective programmes for a lifetime.
- You may spend the entire period in one department or rotate between different departments.
- 1–4 weeks: USD 400
- 5–8 weeks: USD 550
The above fee structure will remain valid until 31 st December 2026.
From 1 st of January 2027, the fee structure will be revised.
