A momentous occasion unfolded today, on 23rd November 2023 at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital as the Clinical services to the public were commenced at the Dental Professorial Units of the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura established at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital. This significant step forward in healthcare was celebrated in the presence of esteemed guests, Professor Sampath Amarathunge, Chairman of the University Grants Commission, and Professor M.M. Pathmalal, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Prof. Surangi G. Yasawardene, Dean, Faculty of Dental Sciences, Heads of Departments of the FDS and academic members of FDS were present at the occasion. The first patient was treated by Dr. Priyake Palipana, Head, Department of Restorative Dentistry. The event commenced with a sacred pirith chanting, setting a spiritual tone for the auspicious occasion. Initially the patient care services will be provided on all 5 week days from 8.00am -12.00 noon.
