The Department of Oral Surgery, Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, in partnership with AO Craniomaxillofacial Surgery (AO CMF) and the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medical Sciences, successfully organized a specialized Cadaveric Workshop titled “AO CMF Course—Advances in TMJ Surgery and Management of TMJ Disorders.” Held on August 7, 2024, the workshop was a significant event designed to provide hands-on training in Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) surgery.
The practical sessions were conducted in the Dissection Hall of the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medical Sciences providing an ideal environment for immersive learning. The cadavers used during the workshop were thoughtfully donated to the Department of Anatomy, with prior consent given by the donors for their use in medical education, teaching, and research.
The workshop offered a unique opportunity for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical trainees to deepen their understanding and refine their skills in TMJ surgery, through direct interaction with cadaveric specimens. This collaborative effort between the faculties of Dental and Medical Sciences highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary learning.
